Suit of Pentacles
Pentacles are Earth: money, work, the body, health, home, property and tangible results. Events in this suit move slowly but surely.
Pentacles come from the denari (coins) of Italian and Mamluk cards and became diamonds (♦) in France. The Golden Dawn and Waite renamed coins as pentacles, golden discs bearing a five-pointed star, to show the suit is not only money but the whole material world made sacred by the mind.
The star on every pentacle points upward — in Western tradition, spirit set above the four elements. This suit is never only about money.
