Uranian astrology chart (Hamburg School)
Calculate the real planets and the eight hypothetical points on the 90° dial, with midpoint trees and planetary pictures, houses from six personal points, a solar-arc timeline and today's transits.
What is Uranian astrology?
Uranian astrology, or the Hamburg School, was founded by the German surveyor and astrologer Alfred Witte (1878–1941) together with Friedrich Sieggrün. Witte found that many events could not be explained by the known planets, proposed eight hypothetical points beyond Neptune, and developed a method based on midpoints and planetary sums rather than traditional aspects.
Uranian astrology has been popular in Thailand for decades because it gives clear planetary pictures and precise timing.
The eight hypothetical points
- Cupido (Cup)Cupido, the first point proposed by Alfred Witte, describes people coming together: family, marriage, associations and society, and the art that grows out of shared feeling.
- Hades (Had)Hades is what lies beneath the surface: decay, illness and neglect on one side; on the other, digging up buried truth, history and work that demands depth.
- Zeus (Zeu)Zeus is force aimed at one target, like fire inside an engine or a guided projectile. It reads as action, ambition, production and bringing something new into being.
- Kronos (Kro)Kronos is the top of the hierarchy: rulers, experts and the ability to stand alone. It reads as rank, credibility and decisions made from above.
- Apollon (Apo)Apollon, the first of Friedrich Sieggrün's points, means multiplication and spread: knowledge, trade, reputation and success that reaches beyond oneself.
- Admetos (Adm)Admetos is compression and stillness, like a seed buried before it sprouts. It reads as delay, limitation, land, resources and beginning again from a full stop.
- Vulkanus (Vul)Vulkanus is power beyond what one person can resist: great inspiration or crushing pressure. Whatever it touches in a chart happens with intensity.
- Poseidon (Pos)Poseidon is the light of the mind: pure ideas, truth and spiritual experience. It reads as the inspiration that lets you see the whole picture clearly.
The 90° dial and planetary pictures
The heart of the Hamburg School is the 90° dial, which folds the 360° zodiac into 90°. Factors in conjunction, square or opposition in the zodiac land on the same spot on the dial. When factor C stands on the midpoint of A and B, written C = A/B, it forms a planetary picture: the themes of A and B combine and show through C.
The six personal points
The Hamburg School gives special weight to six personal points: the Aries Point (0° Aries, the world and society), the MC (the inner self and mind, not career as in traditional astrology), the Ascendant (surroundings and the people around you), the Sun (body and vitality), the Moon (feelings and women) and the Node (connections and meetings). This page therefore counts houses from all six.
The fate line: solar arcs
Solar-arc directions move every factor forward by the distance the Sun travelled after birth, counting one day after birth as one year of life — about 1° a year. When a directed factor reaches a personal point on the 90° dial, that factor's theme tends to appear in life. Uranian astrologers use this to time major events.
Accuracy
The real planets come from the astronomy-engine library, based on standard theories (VSOP87 and Brown's lunar theory), accurate to under an arcminute. The eight hypothetical points use the Witte–Sieggrün elements refined by James Neely, the set used by the Swiss Ephemeris. MC and Ascendant come from apparent sidereal time; their accuracy depends on your birth time — four minutes of error moves the MC by about 1°.
The chart also connects to tarot: every card page has a "Uranian astrology connection" section naming the point it resonates with, such as Death with Hades or the Lovers with Cupido.
Going further from the natal chart
With your natal chart cast, try the forecast for any date, which sets the transits of the moment you choose against this chart with trend graphs, lucky numbers and good days for important matters, or open the astrocartography map to see where each planet's lines run and where a move would support you. Both pages can reuse the birth data remembered here.
Frequently asked questions
Can I cast a chart without a birth time?
Yes. Tick "time unknown": the chart uses noon and omits the MC and Ascendant. The other personal points remain: Aries Point, Sun, Moon and Node. The Moon may be off by up to about 6° because it moves fast.
Do the hypothetical points exist?
No. The eight points are astrological constructs, not astronomical bodies, despite their planetary names.
Why do positions differ slightly from other software?
Programs may use different orbital element sets. This page uses James Neely's set, the same as the Swiss Ephemeris; differences between sets are usually under about 1°.
Does the MC mean career in Uranian astrology?
Not directly. The Hamburg School reads the MC as the native's inner self and mind; career is read from several factors together.
